Meze
Meet Chimeremeze, known artistically as Meze—an 18-year-old graduate of the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), recently awarded a scholarship to pursue the study of Law. Meze’s journey into the spotlight began through the visionary leadership of Emile Poree, OUSD’s Director of Music, whose commitment to student excellence led to Meze’s introduction to a transformative opportunity.
Meze is one of the distinguished teen artists selected to participate in Keith Jackson’s Gratitude Dedicated to the Jackson Family Concert, a landmark event that celebrates legacy, supports Arts and Education, and uplifts youth through music and mentorship.

Chosen through the Connoisseur’s Choice Program—a selective initiative founded by Keith Jackson, first cousin to Janet and Michael Jackson, and the nonprofit iamformusic.org—Meze exemplifies the spirit of artistic excellence and community empowerment. This program was designed to provide exceptionally talented students in the Arts and Technology with life-changing experiences alongside seasoned professionals, preparing them for college and beyond.
Meze’s performance will be featured on the upcoming Album and CD/DVD release of Keith Jackson’s Gratitude Dedicated to the Jackson Family, arriving in early 2026. His contributions reflect a deep passion for Gospel Music, his chosen field of artistic expression, where his voice already resonates with the maturity and soul of a seasoned professional.
The roots of this initiative trace back to 2012, when Wendy Weir, sister of Bay Area legend Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, partnered with Jerome Picot to help launch the program. Their efforts were inspired by a request from Katherine Jackson to honor her son Michael Jackson’s birthday and contribute to the revitalization of Gary, Indiana.Wendy Weir, Jerome Picot, Keith Jackson, and the iamformusic.org team are proud to present Meze as one of the program’s shining stars. As Wendy and the iamformusic.org team shares: “Meze’s performance is exceptional. His talent and spirit embody the heart of Keith Jackson’s Gratitude Dedicated to the Jackson Family Concert.”
Audiences will have the opportunity to experience Meze live in concert in 2026, as he continues to pursue his passion for Gospel Music and inspire others through his artistry and academic journey.
